Paul Lewis Maughan

Paul Lewis Maughan, 86 of Pekin, IL, formerly of Aurora, IL passed away at 2:35 PM, Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Pekin Manor in Pekin, IL. Paul was born on June 22, 1935, in Dodgeville, WI to John and Audrey (Holland) Maughan. He married the love of his life, Ruth (Lewis) Maughan on November 27, 1954, and they were married for 65 years before his beloved wife passed away in 2020. Paul grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin and even owned a gas station before feeling a call on his life to go into full time ministry. He graduated in 1968 from Dallas Bible College in Dallas, TX. He pastored for more than 50 years and had the privilege of leading many people into a faith in Jesus. He served as Pastor at Grace Evangelical Church in South Elgin, IL for many years. One of his favorite songs was Because He Lives, he would not only sing these words, but live them out. "And because He lives, I can face tomorrow, Because He lives, all fear is gone, Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives." He faced many challenges in his life, and his faith was so strong. Paul had a love for woodworking, gardening, cars, and old tractors. He always loved to read his Bible and in later years he would listen to those words of scripture, and they brought him so much comfort. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his parents, three sisters, Ruth, Hazel and Eunice, his brother Holland. Surviving are his six children, Dennis (Twila) Maughan of Williams, AZ, Becky (Terry) Jones of Pekin, IL, Ralph Maughan of Morton, IL, Gary (Jennifer) Maughan of St. Charles, IL, Tim (Susanne) Maughan of Gilbert, AZ, and Marcia (Paul) Hancy of Big Flats, NY; seventeen grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, one brother, Donald (Amy) Maughan. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Pauls arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Evangelical Church in South Elgin, IL.
