Patrick Rabe

Patrick K. 'Pat' Rabe, 61, of Bartonville, IL passed away at 8:51 PM Thursday, December 31, 2015 at his home. Pat was born on April 29, 1954 in Peoria, IL to Clarence William and O. Charlene (McGrew) Rabe. He married Candy Williams on December 10, 1977 in Glasford, IL. She passed away on July 18, 2012. His parents also preceded him in death. Surviving are: three sons, Jason (Maria Pecoraro)Rabe of San Diego, CA, Brian (Kira) Rabe of Pekin and Jonathan (Amanda Lowe) Rabe of Pekin; three grandchildren, Landen Lowe, Brody and Korbin Rabe; four brothers, Mike (Pam) Rabe of Glasford, IL, Doug (Nancee Whitehurst) Rabe of Bartonville, David Rabe of Oquawka, IL and Jay (Kathy Whittles) Rennau of Creve Coeur, IL; four sisters, Teresa Rabe of Seattle, WA, Patsy Greuter of East Peoria, IL, Tina (Joe) Propst of East Peoria, IL and Beth (Jim) Enlowe of St. Louis, MO; step father, Alan Misener of East Peoria, IL. Pat was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He received an Associate's Degree in Police Science from Illinois Central College. He worked at the Peoria County Sheriff's Office before joining the Peoria Police Department for twenty years retiring in 2006 as a Detective. He later worked for the Eureka Police Department. While he was with the Peoria PD he received many awards including the distinguish service award and was credited by his peers as one of the best Detectives ever. Pat loved spending time in the outdoors with the love of his life and three boys boating, camping, hunting and fishing. His passion for the great outdoors will be missed most by his boys. Pat was the greatest father a son could ever have. He was a member of the Peoria Police Benevolent Association and Bartonville American Legion Post #979. Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army and American Legion Post #979 at 3:45 PM Friday, January 8, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will follow from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday. Cremation will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the Peoria Police Benevolent Association P. O. Box 1402 Peoria, IL 61602.
