Patrick H. Kelly

Patrick H. Kelly, 71 of Manito, IL passed away Friday morning, October 29, 2021 due to injuries he sustained in a car accident in Mason County. Patrick and his identical twin brother, Michael, were born on Sunday, November 27, 1949 to William F. and Elizabeth "Betty" (Inge) Kelly in Sioux City, Iowa. He attended West High School in Rockford, IL and graduated in 1969. Patrick and his brother Michael were both in the United States Air Force from 19701972, during the Vietnam War. He received his undergraduate degree in special education teaching from Illinois State University. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one infant brother. Patrick is survived by his twin brother Michael (Sheila) Kelly; sister, Nancy (Ben) Fiorenza, his niece Breanne (Brent) Schmitt, nephew Michael Kelly II, grandnephew Oliver Schmitt, other nephews and niece, and his beloved dog, Katie. Patrick taught special education students for many years and was teaching at Jacksonville Middle School, Jacksonville, Illinois, at the time of his passing. He was an avid western movie fan and had almost every movie made by John Wayne. He served on several Cursillo teams. Private inurnment will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County where he will be laid to rest alongside his fellow Veterans.
