( Pekin) Patricia Joanne Proehl, 76, of Pekin, IL, passed away at 12:02 am on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at her home.
Born on February 16, 1949, in Peoria, Illinois, to Clarence and Shirlie Kohtz Jackson, she married Howard Proehl on August 10, 1968, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin, with the Rev. Paul Schedler officiating. Howie preceded her in death on June 4, 2021.
Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Donald) Regan of Naperville, IL and Stacie (Chad) Kendall of Geneva, IL; five grandchildren, Trey (Emily) Scotti of Cincinnati, OH, Ashley (Rand) Willette of Long Island, NY, and Lindsey Scotti of Rochester, MN; Isaac (Francesca) Kendall of Hammond, IN/Geneva, and Samuel Kendall of St. Louis, MO; one great-grandson, Levi Kendall of Hammond; one brother, Jeffery (Susan) Jackson of Pekin, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Daryl (Billie) Jackson.
Patricia was baptized into the Christian faith at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in East Peoria, IL. She grew up in Pekin, graduated from Pekin High School in 1967, and from Oehrlein’s School of Cosmetology in 1978. She was a lifelong hairdresser and cosmetologist, owning Pat’s Place of Hairstyling in Pekin from the 1980s to the 1990s.
Faith was so important to Pat, and her faith shaped her life. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and served on numerous other committees. She was also a member of the Professional Beauty Association and the Bradley Braves Club.
Pat loved talking about family history, the time she spent with her Grandfather Merlyn, and her adventures on her Great-Uncle Bob Jackson’s farm in Canton. She was especially fascinated with her family’s ties to New Salem, IL, and President Abraham Lincoln. Pat loved playing cards, especially Euchre and Rummy. Her delicious cooking will always be remembered as well! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Her funeral service will at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 27, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pekin with Pastor Daniel Bishop officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, Sept. 26th at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 AM – 10:15 AM Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
