Norma Joanne Benson

Norma Joanne Benson, 92 of Pekin passed away at Villas of Hollybrook Memory Care in Pekin at 9:44 am, Wednesday, August 7, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. Joanne was born on February 14, 1932 in Pekin to Guy E. and Mildred (Sweeney) Mullins She married Warren Calvin Benson on June 19, 1949. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Christopher Benson. Joanne is survived by; one son, Brock Benson of Pekin; two daughters, Julie Ervin of Pekin, and Cathy (Stephen) Svendsen of Manito; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren; her longtime companion, Chuck Ashley of Springfield. After attending beauty school, Joanne worked as a beautician. She also worked at Bergners in the Pekin Mall in the perfume department. She was a dancer, and was quite talented at it. She tap-danced on the radio back in the 40s and 50s, and continued her love of dancing all her life. Her and husband Cal enjoyed the water, and loved their time boating over the years. Burial will be in Glendale Memorials Gardens in Pekin where a Graveside Service will be held at 1:30 pm, Thursday, August 15, 2024 with Pastor Heather Robertson officiating.
