Nicholas Anton, 93, of Pekin, IL passed away at 9:40 AM Thursday, September 20, 2018 at his home. Nick was born on March 17, 1925 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Maria (Chiames) Anton. He married Nell Long on July 20, 1953 in Pascagoula, MS. Preceding him in death are his parents; infant sons, Thomas and Peter Anton; sisters, Georgia Anton and Anne Karros; brothers, John and James Anton; and son-in-law, James Pippin. Surviving are: his wife, Nell of Pekin; one son, Greg (Kimberley) Anton of San Diego, CA; one daughter, Kristin Anton-Pippin of San Diego, CA; five grandchildren, Ashley (Greg) Stumm, Alyssa Anton, Avery Anton, Brooklyn Pippin and Nicolette Pippin. Nick was a veteran of The Army Air Force during WWII and the Air Force during the Korean War. He was the manager of the Training Division at Caterpillar, Inc. retiring in 1985 after 30 years. Nick was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria, Pekin Country Club and Caterpillar Retirees. He was past president of the American Society of Training Directors. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed making golf clubs and cooking. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria with Rev. Dr. Ciprian Sas officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM Monday, Sept. 24th at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin. Burial will be in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria with military honors provided by the United States Air Force. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church.
