Michael Straker

Michael Straker, 62, of Green Valley, IL passed away at 6:40 PM Friday, November 28, 2014 at his home. Mike was born on July 31, 1952 in Pekin, IL to Robert and Christina (Marr) Straker. He married Deborah (Ewing) Loy on July 3, 1981 in Pekin. He is parents preceded him in death. Surviving is: his wife, Deborah of Green Valley; one daughter, Marisa (Ryan Jennings) Everett of Green Valley; three grandsons, Cameron Everett, Colin Everett and Ricky Jennings. Mike has been a member of Abate of Illinois since April 2, 1989 and has served in numerous positions including: West Central Region Coordinator, chairman for Abate PAC, activities coordinator, products coordinator, newsletter coordinator, legislative coordinator and State Board of Directors representative. He was president of the Freebird Chapter of Abate since 2001. Mike enjoyed playing pool and played on various pool leagues. He was a member of the Roy L. King VFW Post #1232 and was past vice-president of the River City Blues Society. Mike was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the United States Army. Out of respect for Mike's wishes there will be no services and cremation will be accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2015.
