Michael J. Shaver

Michael “Mike” J. Shaver, 78, of East Peoria, IL passed away at 2:04am Thursday, July 30, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Mike was born on March 22, 1948 in Peoria to Robert and Shirley (Myers) Shaver. He married Sharon Christopher on November 17, 1973 in Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Dean King; sister-in-law, Cindy Shaver; nephew, James Shaver.

Surviving is his wife, Sharon of East Peoria; three brothers, Robert "Bud" (Phyllis) Shaver of Vero Beach, Florida, William "Bill" (Mary) Shaver of Fairfield Glade, TN and James "Jim" (Terri) Shaver of Deer Lodge, TN; and one sister, Janice King of Liberty, IL.

Mike dedicated many years of service working as the janitor of the lunchroom at East Peoria High School, where he took pride in helping provide a welcoming environment for students and staff. He also worked in the shipping department at Couch & Heyl. In his free time, Mike found peace and enjoyment fishing. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with family and those closest to him.

Graveside Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Peoria with Pastor Steve Rowell officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or National Kidney Foundation.
