Melvin J. "Mel" Williams

Melvin J. 'Mel' Williams, 71, of 12517 IL Rt. 29Pekin, IL passed away at 1:52 am Saturday, August 09, 2008 in the Emergency Room at Pekin Hospital. Mel was born February 12, 1937 in Peoria, IL to Otis J. and Ruby M. (Wilson) Williams. He married Valeria 'Ann' Calvert in Pekin, IL on January 19, 1979. Preceding in death are his parents and two brothers Marvin and Odie Jay Williams. Surviving are: his wife, Ann of Pekin; two sons, Jeffrey (and Karla) Walker of Dunn, NC and Joel Walker of Pekin; four daughters, Debra (and Sonny) Brown of Pekin, Julie (and Chuck) Heltsley of Englewood, FL, Cindy (and Alan) Deppert of Pekin and Christy (and Craig) Doan of Pekin; ten grandchildren, Chris, Donnie, Shawna, Trena, Steven, Terra, Nathan, Ashlynn, Anna and Keri; sixteen great grandchildren. Mel has owned Mel Williams Used Cars since 1969. He loved to ride motorcycles, four wheelers and snow mobiles. He was also an avid fisherman and boater.
