Melvin L. Becker

Melvin L. Becker, 88, of Pekin died at 7:53 am Saturday, December 18, 2010 at his home. Melvin was born April 25, 1922 in Pekin, IL to John and Stella (Hampton) Becker. He married Lois M. Heaton on January 1, 1942 in Pekin, IL. Preceding in death are his parents, five brothers, George, Kenneth, Eugene, Alvin and Raymond and one sister, Viola Schlottman. Surviving is: his wife, Lois of Pekin; two sons, Donald M. (Linda) Becker of Peoria and Randal L. (Margaret) Becker of Blowing Rock, NC; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Melvin was employed at Caterpillar Inc. as a carpenter for 41 years retiring in October of 1982. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Pekin.
