Matthew B. Brady

Matthew B. Brady, 92, of Pekin passed away at 7:33 pm Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Pekin Manor. Matt was born October 17, 1916 in Beardstown, IL to Ambrose P. and Fay (Roach) Brady. He married Helen Grant on August 8, 1942. She died on June 20, 1975. He thenmarried Ruth A. Reaktenwalt on April 3, 1976 in South Pekin, IL. She died on January 30, 2008. Also preceding him death are twin granddaughters, one brother, William Brady and one sister, Margaret Hatfield. Surviving are: three daughters, Mary (Charles) Hastyof Groveland, Alma (Lewis)Betts of Andalusia, IL and Janet (Steve) Murray of Lacon, IL; four step sons, Daniel (Brenda) Kleiber of Manito, IL, James (Sam) Kleiber of Green Valley, IL, Kenneth Kleiber of South Pekin, IL and Richard(Cheryl)Kleiber of Pekin; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren, twenty-three step great grandchildren and three step great great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Reed of Camdenton, MO. Matt was a member of Operating Engineers Local # 649 retiring in 1981. He was veteran of the United States Army Engineers during WW II. He was a life member of the North Pekin AmVets, Past President of the Peoria Sportsman Club and a member of Pekin Moose Lodge. Matt attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.
