Marylou Friederich, 91, of Pekin passed away at 6:40 pm Thursday, June 4, 2009 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. Marylou was born August 16, 1917 in Canton, IL to Louis and Alpha (Williams) Williamson. She married Phil J. Friederich on March 28, 1937 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Pekin by Rev. Arno Zimmerman. Phil died November 16, 2000. Also preceding in death are two brothers, Francis and Donald Williamson. Surviving are: one son, Rev. Bill (Maggie) Friederich of Penobscot, Maine; one daughter, Connie Moser of Pekin; one granddaughter, Joanna (TJ) Mingus of Pekin; two great grandchildren, Brooke and Joel Mingus of Pekin. Her family was the joy of her life! Marylou started working in the Dean's office at West Campus in 1961 then transferred to East Campus Library/Media in 1963 and remained there until retiring at the end of the 1991 school year. She was honored by being the Home Coming Parade Grand Marshall in October 1991. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ where she had served as served as Superintendent and teacher of the Sunday School for many years. She had also served on the church council, was Past President, Treasurer and Secretary of the Women's Guild. Charter member, Past President and secretary of the JOY Circle and was treasurer of the Bloomington Regional UCC churches. She sang in the St. Paul Choir for seventy years and was one of the original members of the Pekin Civic Chorus. She was a member of the Pekin Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the hospital. She was a member of the Tazewell County Farm Bureau. Marylou's interests were cooking, sewing, music and visiting people in the hospitals and nursing homes.
