Mary Jane Pogioli

Mary Jane (Rapp) Pogioli, 94, passed from this life into eternity on October 1, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born June 29, 1923 in Pekin to Jacob and Lena Von Boeckman Rapp. She married Alfred Pogioli on April 20, 1945 in Greensboro, NC. He passed away on October 25, 2009. Also preceding in death are her parents and sister, Fannie. She is survived by son Martin (Barbara), daughter Sally Fairley, son Timothy (Janet), daughter Lisa (Greg) Massa, son Gregory, son Michael (Terri), 18 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren (1 on the way), and 2 great great grandchildren. Mary Jane was a selfless caregiver to her husband, children, parents, sister and countless others. She influenced everyone in her own loving and gentle way. She was a homemaker who welcomed all. Mary Jane volunteered at every opportunity at St. Joseph Catholic Church and School. She loved music and was a member of Saint Joseph Choir, Resurrection Choir, Catholic Women's League, Council of Catholic Women, and Red Hat Club. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 4 from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm with a wake service 4:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Andrejek at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday October 5 at 10:30 am. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph School or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
