Mary Joyce Filarski

Mary "Joyce" Filarski, 91, of Pekin, IL passed away at 5:30 PM Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Washington Senior Living in Washington, IL. Joyce was born on September 30, 1930 in Walnut, MS to Ollie Wade and Grace Kathryn (Hobson) Luker. She married Martin Filarski on July 23, 1952 in Peoria, IL. He passed away on November 15, 1992. Also preceding in death are her parents, four brothers and one sister. Surviving is: one son, Gerry Roach of Pekin; one daughter, Kathy (Dave) Cole of Germantown Hills, IL; three grandchildren, Kyle (Holly Callahan) Roach of Pekin, Sarah (Chris) Light of Germantown Hills and Jeff (Ashley) Cole of Washington, IL; five great grandchildren, Weston, Kamryn and Sullivan Cole and Grant and Zachary Light; many special nieces and nephews. Joyce was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ladies of Columbus, Alter and Rosary Society, Women of the Moose and a volunteer at Pekin Hospital. She was an avid card player, enjoyed cooking and family fishing trips. She loved spending time with her family. She will also be remembered for always having a good joke or story to share. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Andrejek as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour before the mass at the church. Burial will be Saint Joseph Cemetery in Pekin. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Joyces arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
