Mary Dene Etter

Mary Dene Etter, 88, of Pekin, IL passed away at 5:10 PM Sunday, April 30, 2023 at her home. Mary Dene was born on August 26, 1934 in Peoria, IL to Ernest Fredrich and Louise Kathryn (Tillman) Baker. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Lori Leah Sullivan. Surviving are: one daughter, Linda (Paul) Robertson of Pekin; two grandsons, Jacob (Jessica) Uphoff of Knoxville, TN and Andrew Robertson of Pekin; two great grandchildren, Raine Robertson and Levi Waddell and many cousins. Mary Dene was an executive secretary at Caterpillar Inc. She retired in 1994 but continued to work part time. She enjoyed a long and productive career at Caterpillar where she met many coworkers that became lifelong friends. Mary Dene was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served on the Missions Board. She also was a board member of Excalibur Seasonings. She graduated from Pekin High School in 1952 and attended ICC and Bradley University. She volunteered at Look Its My Books and the Nearly Nu Shop. Mary Dene was an avid bridge and trivia player who never missed a night of "Fun Club". Last enjoying their company, the night before she died. Funeral services will be at Noon on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Zachary Langloss officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM 12:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or Pekin YWCA.
