Mary Becker

Mary Becker 86, of Pekin, passed away at 6:11 am Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mary was born June 1, 1930 in Spring Lake (Manito) to Frank and Anna (Wurdinger) Neulinger.After Frank's death Anna married Fred Kalhammer Sr. who helped raise her.She married Robert Becker in Pekin on April 24, 1954. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Anna, Frank and Fred; one sister, Anna Shanklin; one brother, Frank Neulinger. Mary is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters, Nancy (Ray) Morris of Peoria and Marcia (Rick) Ewing of Pekin; grandchildren, Shelly (Lawrence)Thomas of Wiley, TX, Beth (Dr. Tanner) Miller of Pekin, Rick (Kelly Cantrell) Ewing II of Playa Del Rey, CA; great grandchildren, Olivia Shae Thomas, Remi Becker Miller and Wakely Rollins Miller; one brother, Fred (Delores) Kalhammer of Manito; special family, Dolores Xanos and J. Douglas Anderson II both of Whittier, CA. Mary was chief photographer for Pekin Daily Times for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a RCIA team member, member of Council of Catholic Women, Ladies of Columbus. She was a volunteer for the Knights of Columbus in charge of the rummage sale, helping with dinners and helping with Elks Bingo. She was a past member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority. She was an avid baker, and gardener. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Andrejek officiating.Visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., with a Rosary service at 4:15 pm. Additional visitation from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Friday at the church.Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Knights of Columbus or St. Vincent De Paul Food Bank.
