Marvin Henry Uphoff

Marvin Henry Uphoff, 81 of Pekin, passed away at 9:55 am, Monday, September 30, 2024 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born to Bernard and Marie Uphoff in Peoria on January 27, 1943. He married Opal Tucker in Peoria on October 30, 1966. Marv was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Wendell (Wanda), Warner, and Raymond Uphoff, and two sisters, Lucille (Lester) Bruce and Maxine (George) Walley. He is survived by his wife, Opal, one daughter, Lisa (Robert) Lechton, three grandchildren, Bradley (Emily) Lechton, Andrew Lechton, and Zachary Lechton, one brother, Rolland (Barb) Uphoff of St. Louis, nephews, Greg Uphoff and Randy Uphoff, nieces, Sandy Schroeder, Wanda Rippey, Angie Dennison, and Ammie Porter, and several grand nieces and nephews. Marv served in the United States Army Reserve. He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 44 years, retiring in 2009. He attended Bartonville Grade School and enjoyed keeping up with his classmates over the years. He graduated from Limestone High School in 1961. Marv enjoyed going on vacations with his family over the years. He was a staple at the twice weekly Miller Senior Center pinochle games. Marv was always a dog lover, but in recent years he adored his kitty, Samantha. His greatest treasure was his wife, daughter, and his grandchildren. He loved time spent with them, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Chaplin Jack Brown officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with military honors provided by the United States Army.
