Marlowe Caulkins

Marlowe Caulkins, 89, of Manito, IL, passed away at 1:55 PM, Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. Marlowe was born April 15, 1927 in Manito, IL to Cecil E. and Nora Marie (Mahr) Caulkins. He married Alice M. Bolson on November 24, 1946. They were married for 69 years. Preceding in death are his parents, one sister, Eileen Adams and two son-in-laws, Thomas K. Watson and Joseph M. Woodward. Surviving are: his wife, Alice of Manito; three daughters, Susan Woodward of Manito, Christy Watson of Manito and Marla (Greg) Henderson of Pekin; nine grandchildren, Craig (Christie) Woodward of Baltimore, MD, Christopher (Jeniffer Brian) Woodward of Peoria, Holli Woodward of Manito, Shad (Stephanie Lusher) Woodward of Manito, Cody (Vanessa) Watson of Manito, Casey Watson of Manito, Ryan Henderson of Manito, Lauren (Justin) Phillips of Pekin and Mallory (Cody Beal-Morris) Henderson of Pekin; ten great grandchildren, Samantha (Carl Jordan) Woodward, Morgan Woodward, Luke and Allison Dorsey, Michael and Nicholas Mathias, Haley Woodward, Brayden and Alexis Phillips, Ryker Beal-Morris and Emma Lusher; one great great grandchild, Austin Jordan; two brothers, Stephen F. Caulkins of Pekin and Nelson 'Jiggs' (Audrey) Caulkins of Manito. Marlowe owned and operated the Standard Oil Station in Manito from 1950 - 1967. He also farmed in Springlake Township from 1957 - 1988 retiring after 31 years. He was a member of the Peoria Sportsman Club and Tazewell County Farm Bureau. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM Friday, July 29 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito. Memorial contributions may be made to Forman Ambulance or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
