Marlene Catherine Shields

Marlene Catherine (Viviano)Shields, 80 of Pekin, passed away at 8:42 pm, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Marlene was born July 2, 1933 in Panama, Illinois to John and Helen (Mondino) Viviano.She married Paul Shields on June 19, 1954 in Pekin, IL. She is survived by her husband, Paul; two daughters, Kay (Jerry) Paul and Janis (Brad) Simpkins both of Pekin; four grandchildren, Lindsay (fianc Tim Sullivan) Rugaard, Stacey (Kurt) Glesne, Adam (Kim) Paul, Gina (fianc' Jeff Perry) Simpkins; six great grandchildren, Alexis, Jaxson, Alivia Rugaard, Drake and Lydia Paul, and Elle Glesne; one sister Eleanora Wisdom of Pekin. Marlene was preceded by her parents, and one great grandson, Logan Paul. Marlene was an executive secretary at Herget Bank retiring in 1996 after thirty years of service. Marlene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin.She was a member of American Business Women's Association, Ladies Emblem Club, American Red Cross, Pekin Jayceettes and the March of Dimes. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Monday, September 16, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin with Father Michael Andrejek officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, September 15 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a rosary to be held at 1:30 pm at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 am to 10:45 am prior to the funeral Mass.Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.Paul Shields, Funeral Director through Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the Leukemia Research Foundation.
