Marilou Counterman

Marilou G. Counterman, 92, of Pekin, passed away peacefully at 5:02 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Pekin Manor. She was born on October 2, 1932, in Pekin, Illinois, to John Cordes and Hazel (Diepenbrock) Cordes.

Marilou dedicated many years of her life working as a clerk at Kmart. She found joy in crocheting and needlework, creating cherished handmade treasures. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter, Carol Ann Counterman.

Marilou is survived by her son, David Counterman of Pekin; one grandchild, Eric Counterman; and two great-grandchildren, Quinn Counterman and Anna Counterman.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Lakeside Cemetery, with Rev. Judy Doyle officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.

Marilou’s warmth and creativity will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
