Mardell Ruth Silveus

Mrs. Mardell Silveus, 92, of Metropolis, IL, formerly of Pekin, IL, died Thursday, January 8, 2015 at Southgate Nursing Home in Metropolis. She was born July 8, 1922 in Pekin to Herman and Jennie Oltman. She married Clarence Silveus on October 25, 1942 in Pekin. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; and 2 brothers. Mardell was an accomplished organist and pianist playing at several churches and at Noel-Henderson Funeral Home. She also gave piano lessons for many years. Mardell is survived by one son, Paul Silveus and wife Shiela of Dover, DE; daughter, Linda George and husband Ron of Metropolis, IL; one sister, Mary Thorne of Pekin, IL;3 grandchildren, Natalie Quint of Metropolis, IL, Kristen Durrett of Nashville, TN, and Cory Silveus of Dover, DE; and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Second Reformed Church in Pekin, IL. Burial will follow at Glendale Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis and Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory in Pekin are in charge of the arrangements.
