Mackenzie L. Preston

MacKenzie L. Preston, 87, of Pontiac, IL formerly of Pekin passed away at 3:55 AM Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Evenglow Health Center in Pontiac. Mac was born on December 6, 1928 in Tazewell County, IL to Marion and Clara (Grigsby) Preston. He married Virginia Greathouse on January 15, 1950 in Pekin. She passed away on July 1, 2014. Also Preceding in death are his parents and four brothers, Francis, Harry, Jesse and Earl, one sister, Nina Ross. Surviving are: one son, Jay (Roberta) Preston of Colfax, IL; four daughters, Dr. Kenzie (Steve Benner) Preston of Clarksville, MD, Heidi (Neal) McNamara of Round Rock, TX, Martha (Steve) McWethy of Dixon, IL and Mary (John) Schwarz of Pontiac; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two brothers Herman (Dorothy) Preston of Florida and Carl (Kathleen) Preston of Arizona; A.F.S. students, Luisa Maria Borger of Brazil and Martha 'Tish' Canseco Bennett of Mexico. Mac was a bench Jeweler and clock maker at Jones Brothers Jewelry for 47 years retiring in 1994. He was a former member of Second Reformed Church in Pekin and was currently a member of First United Methodist Church in Pontiac. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin with Pastor Tom Goodell officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM on Saturday. Cremation will be accorded after the services with inurnment in Woodrow Cemetery at a later date.
