Lyle D. Colson, 72, of Manito, IL passed away at 10:00 pm Sunday September 16, 2007 at Hopedale Hospital. Lyle was born November 24, 1934 in Pekin to Halac and Dortha Hancock Colson.He married Ida Maire Potts on March 28, 1954 in Pekin.She survives. Also surviving are two sons: Don (Connie) Colson of Pekin and Dave (Tina) Colson of Manito; two daughters, Gail (Mark) Bale of Tremont, Angie (David) Konz of Pekin; one brother Joe (Beth) Colson of Swansboro, NC; one sister Bonnie Harkin of Pekin; nine grandchildren: Justin Colson, David Colson Jr., Brandon Bale, Cassie Shinnefield, Alex and Brady Cufaude, Tarynn O'Brian, Krystal Salcido, Kaitlyn Colson; four great grandchildren: Tyler and Ryan Bale and Xavier Shinnefield, Garrett Colson. Lyle owned and operated City Service Station, Holiday Gulf Station and the Phillips '66' Station at 13th and Court St. He then worked as a mechanic for R.A. Cullinan retiring in 1997 after 25 years. In 1968 he was awarded the Governors Award for Life Saving Measures in the Illinois River He was a member of Parkview Senior Golf League.He also was a member of the 1952 undefeated Hall of Fame Pekin Football Team.Lyle was an avid fisherman.He enjoyed watching Eagles from his home.
