Lucille Elkins

D. Lucille Elkins, 89, of Pekin, IL passed away at 8:00 AM Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Pekin Manor. Lucille was born on December 25, 1931 in Crainville, IL to Loyce and Martha (Robinson) Smith. She married Richard Elkins on June 11, 1949 in Crainville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Loyce Dean Smith. She is survived by her husband, Richard of Pekin; one son, Robert (Stephanie Hughes) Elkins of Bryant, AR; two daughters, Lynda (Jack) Robertson of Pekin; Jayne (John) Lenart of Mt. Pleasant, SC; seven grandchildren, Christopher McLeod, Cory (Emily) McLeod, Joshua (Heather) Robertson, Jacob Robertson, Jenna (Jacob) Richardson, Emily Lenart and Libby Lenart; six great-grandchildren, Kellen McLeod, Kendall McLeod, Taylor McLeod, Ryder Yancy, Johnathan Robertson and Julienna Robertson. Lucille was a member of Pekin First Church of the Nazarene where she was active in Womens Ministry Council and The Passion Play. She sang with the Sweet Adelines. She was also involved in Tazewell County Home Extension. She enjoyed quilting and playing the organ. Lucille worked as a cosmetic buyer for Bergners for 18 years, retiring in 1988. Her Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM Friday, June 4, 2021 at Pekin First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Lloyd Brock officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Morton. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting Lucilles family. Memorial contributions may be made to Pekin First Nazarene Church or TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter.
