Lucas William Martin Abegg

Lucas William Martin Abegg, 13, of Pekin passed away unexpectedly at 3:25 a.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at his home.

He was born to Jordan Abegg and Brittany (Simpson) Abegg in Pekin on December 16, 2011.

Lucas is survived by: his mother, Brittany (Zane Rafael) Abegg of Pekin; his father, Jordan R. (Michaela) Abegg of Manito, Ill.; seven siblings, Logan (his twin brother), Phoenix, Ezra, River, Elizabeth, Forest, and Charolette; paternal grandparents, Andy & Pam Burress of Pekin, Keith & Cristy Lane of Green Valley, and Vince & Kim Stranz of Manito, Ill; maternal grandparents, Lonny & Lisa Louwers of Pekin and David & Jodie Simpson of South Pekin; and several great-grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins.

A devoted old soul, Lucas attended both Bethel Baptist Church and Gethsemane Church in Pekin, where he reveled in worship—devouring pages of his Bible with quiet fervor and donning his cherished "fancy clothes" like a young gentleman stepping into sacred adventure. At Broadmoor Junior High School, he thrived in eighth grade, his canvas alive with artistic strokes and his days electric with the thrill of basketball, baseball, and football on the field. Off the court, he dove into video games with strategic glee, hiked trails that whispered secrets of the wild, splashed through creeks like a joyful explorer, and cherished every mile of family vacations that wove unbreakable bonds. Beloved by all at his school, Lucas cheered fiercely for the Yankees, his passion as unyielding as a home run in the ninth. A heartfelt young man whose kindness touched every corner of his world, he lent a hand without hesitation and wielded a natural genius for building and construction, dreaming of empires yet to rise. With visions of sharp suits and summit achievements, he aspired to conquer the business realm as a titan of tomorrow. Oh, how his parents, grandparents, siblings, and all who crossed his path adored him—his absence a quiet ache that eternity itself cannot mend.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 20, 2025, at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin, with Pastor Gage Reno officiating. There will be a visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2025, also at the funeral home. Burial will be in Prairie Haven Cemetery in Pekin.
