Louis E. "Bill" Sevier

Louis E. 'Bill' Sevier, 92 of Bokeelia, FL formerly of Pekin, IL passed away at 11:00 PM Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his home. Bill was born on May 20, 1925 in Waverly, IL to Albert E. and Mary (Morris) Sevier. He married Joyce Holmes on November 24, 1945 in South Pekin. She passed away on September 24, 2011. Also preceding in death are his parents, one sister, June Carrick and three brothers, Albert, Donald and Robert Sevier. Surviving are: five daughters, Mary (Bob) Truschke of Arlington Heights, IL, Susan Worlow of Pekin, Carol Johansson of Tustin, CA, Chris Sevier (Larry Ferry) of Bokeelia, FL and Donna Johnson of Greeley, CO; two brothers, Gary (Lavetta) Sevier and Morris (Doris) Sevier both of Pekin. Bill was a WW II veteran serving in the United States Navy. He was carrier for the Unites States Post Office in Pekin retiring in 1982.He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers for 70 years; serving as President of the Illinois State Letter Carriers Association.He was a charter member of Pekin Marine Corps League.He was a lifetime member of the VFW.He was a member of the Congregation United Church of Christ in Pekin. Memorial services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Judy Steger-Kennedy officiating. Private inurnment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Park Foundation 1701 Court Street, Pekin, IL 61554.
