Lorraine A. Conroy

Lorraine A. (Royse) Conroy, 86, formerly of Pekin, IL died at12:50 AM Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Mendota Lutheran Home in Mendota, IL. Lorraine was born to William Elias and Edith Minnie (Goodell) Vanderwater on January 22, 1924, in Pekin, IL. She married William E. Royse Jr. in 1941, and he preceded her in death in 1966. She married L.F. Conroy in 1976 and he died in 2002. Lorraine worked as a nurse's aid at Pekin Hospital for several years before attending Peoria School of Practical Nursing to become a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1968. She worked for several years as an LPN at Pekin Hospital and then at several nursing homes in the Pekin area before doing private duty nursing when she retired. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior as a teenager, and in recent years, she looked forward to going to her home in Heaven. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin and then attended Mendota Bible Church when she moved to Mendota in 2000. She is survived by one daughter, Wanda (Gary) Kunz of Mendota, IL and three sons, William (Glenda) Royse III of Phoenix, AZ, Larry (Joyce) Royse of Morton, IL and Gary (Neta) Royce of Peoria, IL. She is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, one sister, Marilyn Earp of Deltona, FL, one brother, Robert Vanderwater of Houston, TX and one sister-in-law Lorene Busby of Pekin, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two daughters, Arleen Royse in 1998 and Sharon Radosevich in 2007, two sisters, Dorothy Endicott and Mildred Hesse, five brothers, Don, Bob, Leonard, Floyd and Glen Vanderwater.
