Lois Irene Dini

Lois I. Dini, nee Johnson, 91, of Oak Park, IL, formerly of Pekin, IL, passed away at 7:07 PM Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Rush Oak Park Hospital, Oak Park IL. Lois was born on January 2, 1932, in Bloomington, IL to Clifford and Mable Johnson (Johnson). Lois was married to Arthur E. Dini on June 23, 1957, in Pekin. They celebrated 59 years of marriage until his death in 2016. Lois is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Nieslawski of Elmwood Park, IL and two granddaughters, Grace and Audrey Nieslawski of Chicago, IL. Her husband, parents, two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Johnson, and son, Thomas Dini, preceded her in death. Lois was a 1949 graduate from Pekin Community High School. In 1951, Lois went on to graduate from Browns Business school in Peoria, IL. Lois worked for many years in the International Sales department at Caterpillar, Inc. During her employment, she was afforded a business trip to Cuba her family always enjoyed the interesting stories she told about her experience. Lois went on to marry, have 2 children and support her family as a stay-at-home mom. Lois was an avid bridge and bingo player, socialized with many friends, and was an active member of St. Paul United Church of Christ for many years. Although Lois moved to the Chicago area in 2017 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren, she continued to stay in close contact with her many friends in Pekin and those at St. Paul by phone, writing and making several trips to Pekin over the years. Lois lived her life to the fullest and will be remembered as a loyal wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who had the pleasure of her company. Lois outgoing and optimistic personality will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2023 from 10:00 AM 11:00 AM at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 101 N. 8th Street, Pekin, IL 61554, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Heather Robertson. Burial will take place at Glendale Memorial Gardens. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ.
