Lester D. Smith

Lester D. Smith 70, of Pekin passed away at 6:15 pm Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at UnityPoint Health-Proctor in Peoria. Lester was born June 22, 1946 in Pekin to Maurice D. and Rosalee (Dick) Smith.He married JoAnn Roos. She passed away October 26, 2004. He is survived by his siblings, Donald (Pam) Smith, Michael (Betty) Smith both of Pekin, and Mary (Ronald) Orr of Lewistown, Idaho; and nieces and nephews. Lester was a Vietnam Veteran with the United States Navy Seabees.Serving twice in Vietnam. Lester worked at Caterpillar as a millwright-maintenance machinist retiring in 2003 after 35 years of service.He was a 1965 graduate of Pekin Community High School. Private graveside services will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens at a later date with military honors. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory are assisting with arrangements.
