Lester Allen Custer

Lester Allen Custer, 72, of Pekin, IL passed away at 7:15 pm Friday, August 13, 2021 surrounded by his family. Lester was born on May 29, 1949 in Waukegan, IL to Lester and Mary Urban Custer. He married Kathleen Scariot on July 14, 1973 in Peoria, IL. She passed away January 27, 2018. Also preceding in death are his parents, one daughter, Christina Custer-Rocke, two brothers and four sisters. Surviving is: two sons, Daniel (Jackie) Custer of Pekin, IL and Ryan Custer of Simpsonville, SC; one daughter, Dawn (Jason) Potter of Peoria, IL; six grandchildren, Bennett, Jackson, Charlotte and Chelsea Custer, Colin and Natalie Potter; one brother, Albert (Agnes) Custer of Winthrop Harbor, IL. Lester was a twenty-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the Marine Corps in 1988 he went to work at the Par-a-dice Casino in East Peoria as a Asst. Director of Security. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1115 in Spring Bay, IL. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He enjoyed vacationing on the beaches of North Carolina. A memorial visitation will be from 5:00 PM 6:00 PM Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps at 6:00 PM Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
