Leon E. Gale

Leon Edward Gale, 79 of Pekin passed away at 12:09 am, Monday, July 10, 2023 at home surrounded by family. He was born to Charles E. and Estella Margaret Ann (Shields) Gale in Sandridge, IL on October 17, 1943. Leon was a veteran of the United States Army and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. Shortly after he met and married Donna Light in 1969. They recently celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage. She survives. They had five children; Angie (the late Shawn) Cope, Stephanie (Lonnie) Fuller, Brian (Janet) Gale, Jane (Lucas) Jacob, and Charlie (Lisa) Gale. He was the proud grandparent of nineteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Leon worked for Caterpillar and retired after 30 years. He provided well for his family and was deeply loved by all five of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, playing poker, and a variety of other card games. His garden gave a bounty of fruits and vegetables for years and in the early morning hours of spring he brought in the morels. This is just a small glimpse into the life of a wonderful man we had the privilege of loving and being loved by. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Donors Choice.
