Larry D. Rettke, 73, of Pekin, IL passed away at 2:03 PM Thursday, March 25, 2021 at his home. He was born on May 22, 1947 in Kankakee, IL to Clarence and Francis (Schantz) Rettke. He married Marcia Geitner-Henry on September 29, 2006 in East Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donny and Bill. Surviving are: his wife, Marcia of Pekin; one son, Todd (Kellie) Rettke of Washington, IL; one daughter, Ashley Rettke of Morton, IL ; three step children, Jessica Henry of Pekin, Jamie (Matt) Caldwell of Edelstein, IL and James (Kayla) Henry of Mackinaw; eight grandchildren, Andy and Ryan Rettke, Grace Tran, Garrett Short, Faith Tran, Carter Caldwell, Ophelia Rettke, Carmen Caldwell; two brothers, Mike Rettke of Peoria and Rick Rettke of Peoria Heights. Also, his best buddies, JoJo and Bailey his dogs and Izzy and Zeus, his cats. Larry worked at Keystone Steel and Wire, retiring with 32 years service. After Keystone he worked for the Salvation Army for 7 years. He was a very wise person and a story teller extraordinaire. He was always helping others and always went the extra mile. He was a gentle and patient man. Larry had an exceptional sense of humor. He was a very loving husband and according to his grandchildren, the best grandfather ever. Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his home. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting Larrys family with arrangements.
