Larry J. Redding

Larry J. 'Zeke' Redding, 73, of Pekin passed away at 4:40 AM Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Timbercreek Rehab and Healthcare Center in Pekin. Zeke was born on July 9, 1938 in Delavan, Illinois to Henry and Velma (Copeland) Redding Sr. He married Inez McCombs on November 12, 1957 in Galesburg, Illinois. She died on January 16, 2002. Also preceding in death are his parents, three brothers, Henry, James and Robert, two sisters, Doris Moore and Darlene Hilst. Surviving are: one daughter, Renee (Kendall) Downey of Pekin; five granddaughters, Mindy (Josh) Olsen of Virginia Beach, VA, Bethany (Derek) Beach of Manito, IL, Kendra (Jarrod) Bailey of Marquette Heights, IL, Chelsey and Haley Downey both of Pekin: five great grandsons and four great granddaughters: two sisters, Delores (Ken) Jenkins of Mossy Head, FL and Verna (Doug) Dougherty of Pekin: many nieces and nephews including, Frank (Theresa) Goss, Jody (Richard) Yerly, Doug (Holli) Goss and Mike (Jeannie) Berry. Zeke attended Pekin High School then enlisted in the Army. Upon his return he married the love of his life and went to work at Caterpillar, Inc. and retired in 1994 after 30 years of service. Zeke and Iney also owned and operated Three Sisters Restaurant in the 70's and 80's until Iney's decline in health at which time Zeke faithfully devoted all his time to care for her. He adored his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a strong demanding father-in-law and the ultimate father. He was a member of Pekin Moose Family Center #916 and Fraternal Order of Eagles. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Henderson Funeral Home. Pastor Frank Noyes will officiate.Visitation will be from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM Monday, November 28 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
