Larry Lee Lauterbach

Larry Lee Lauterbach, 67 of Peoria, died from injuries due to a motorcycle accident July 17 on Farmdale Rd. He was born January 26, 1946 in Pekin to Donald and Carol (Brown) Lauterbach. Larry graduated from Pekin High School in 1964.He served in the Vietnam War from 1966-1968 First Calvary Division as a helicopter pilot.He had worked at Caterpillar in skilled trades machine repair and also in tool room working in both Mossville and East Peoria.He retired in 1994 after 30 years of service.He was a member of UAW Local 974 in good standing.After retirement he worked for Grayboy Motorcycles in Peoria Heights. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. Larry was previously married to Pam Dean Edgington and Carol Schmidt. On August 24, 2011 he married his true match Ruth Alt.They all survive. He is also survived by one daughter, Roxanne (Ron) Zimmer of Bradenton, FL, one step daughter, Kari Schmidt of Conroe, TX; two sisters, Laurel (John) Koning of Battlement Mesa CO, and Linda (Bob) Pinkston of Valdosta, GA;grandchildren, Kirsten and Hanah Evans; step grandchildren, Hunter Warner, Dominic Carroll, Peter Page, Caleb Sluga, Brennen Sluga, Abigail Sluga,andMcKasly Bayard; step children, Jennifer Page, Robert Bayard, Mandi (Dean) Sluga;mother in law Donna Alt; In-laws, Teresa (Robert) Yazujian, Deborah (Dennis) Schertz, Robert M. (Tamara) Alt Jr., Kathryn (James) Ogborn; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Lyndsey, Nicholas, Nichole, Natalie and several step nieces and nephews. Larry loved riding and working on motorcycles and mini choppers. He was a founding a member of Chapter Z Goldwing Road Riders Association.Larry considered every member of Chapter Z as part of his family and loved them dearly. Larry will be missed deeply by everyone who knew him.He is now in the loving arms of Jesus. The family wishes to thank the first people on the scene of the wreck who stayed and helped him, the East Peoria Fire Dept., and the staff and doctors of OSF St. Francis Hospital NICU unit for the wonderful care they gave him. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Friday, July 26, 2013 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory.Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Thursday July 25, 2013 at funeral home and 10:30 am - 11:00 am Friday prior to service.Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin with Military Honors.
