Larry G. Higgins

Larry Gene Higgins, 72 of Bartonville passed away at 9:19 AM, Monday, November 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born to Herbert and Margaret (Arell) Higgins in Springfield, MO on August 15, 1949. He married Evelyn Frost in 1968 in Seser, IL. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Steve Higgins. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; one son, Jason (Kelli) Higgins of East Peoria; two grandchildren, Taylor (Jeff) Turovskiy of Denver, CO and Jacob Higgins of East Peoria; one brother, Dennis Higgins of Las Vegas; and one sister, Patty Penn of Fort Worth, TX. Larry worked as a tool and die maker for Caterpillar Tractor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He possessed a thunderous and resonating laugh. Larry was an accomplished Scuba diver. He enjoyed his long held hobby of photography and loved his 1966 Pontiac Lemans and the Pontiac friends he made along the way. Larry truly treasured his family above all. He was a wonderful friend, father, grandfather and husband. Larry will be greatly missed by all those fortunate enough to know and love him. Per his request, cremation has been accorded and there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorials made by made to the Illinois Cancer Care Foundation, 8940 Wood Sage Rd, Peoria, IL 61615.
