Larry K. Dean

Larry K. Dean, 78 of Pekin, left for his heavenly home surrounded by family at 10:05 pm, Friday, April 14, 2017 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria. He was born in Green Valley, IL on April 2, 1939, to Henry L. and Mildred L. (Timm) Dean. He married Constance J. Martin in Pekin on May 24, 1963. Preceding him in death are his parents, and one brother, Gary. Surviving are his wife Connie; two sons, Bryan (Karyn) Dean of Martin, TN, and Marc (Brenda) Dean of Pekin; five grandchildren, Krista, Noah, Hope, Sumer, and Jacob Dean; two step-grandchildren, Megan (D.J.) Kober, and Nick (Amy) Sangalli; and one step great-grandchild, Mariella Kober. Larry was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pekin. He was a 1957 graduate of Pekin High. He worked at Keystone Steel and Wire in Bartonville as a rigger welder, pipefitter, and millwright, retiring in 1999 after 37 years of service. Larry served in the United States Navy in the Sixth fleet on the USS Des Moines. He was known for his dry sense of humor and a very friendly nature, it truly could be said of Larry he never met a stranger. He loved bird watching, the L.A. Dodgers and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed his family, yardwork and boating. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court St., Pekin, with Rev. Judy Doyle officiating. Military honors will be provided by United States Navy and the Tazewell County Ceremonial Team. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM prior to service. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory are assisting Larry's family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Larry's name to OSF Children's Hospital of Illinois, 530 NE Glen Oak Ave, Peoria, or First United Methodist Church in Pekin.
