Kenneth E. Garber

Kenneth E. Garber, 92, of Pekin passed away at 7:43 am, Friday, July 14, 2023 surrounded by family at his home. He was born in Emden, IL on May 3, 1931 to Marion & Johanna (Trager) Garber. He married Karalyn Wildeber on November 14, 1954 in Pekin, IL. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, three grandchildren, Kody Garber, Kari Garber and Lora Garber; one great-grandchild, Tera Garber; and one brother, Delmar Garber. He is survived by his wife, Karalyn; five children Dana (Rose) Garber of Pekin, Kraig (Shawna) Garber of Pekin, Kent (Jennifer) Garber of Marquette Heights, IL, and Kurt (Myong) Garber of Inman, SC, Kara (Mario) Palmieri of Pekin; nine grandchildren, Jesse, Kacey, Loren, Kendra, Kasondra, Kegan, Hannah, Stephan Garber, and Jenna Owens; and eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Marilyn Alexander of Pekin. Ken served in the United States Army, receiving two Bronze Stars and the Meritorious Unit Commendation during the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the Board of Elders, a Sunday School Teacher and also a communion server for many years. He had worked as a television repair technician at Video Service Company for fifteen years retiring in 1998. Ken taught radio and television repair at Illinois Central College for several years. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 700 S. Fourth St. Pekin, IL. with Rev. Simeon D. Raddatz officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior also at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the United States Army. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
