Kenneth E. Doren

Kenneth E. Doren, 84, of Pekin, IL passed away 5:45 AM Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL. Ken was born on August 4, 1939 Pekin to Kenneth H. and Dorothy (Wilder) Doren. He married Judith Ulrich in Pekin on June 12, 1960. His parents preceded him in death. Surviving are: his wife Judy of Pekin; two sons, Kurt E. Doren of Davenport, IA and Brad L. (Maralee) Doren of North Fort Myers, FL; two grandchildren, Gage B. Doren of North Fort Myers, FL and Kobe X. Doren of Knightdale, NC. Ken was employed by the Pekin Fire Department for twenty-nine years retiring as Captain on January 31, 1990. He then worked at Pekin Energy for nine years. He and Judy retired to Florida and enjoyed 24 years there. Ken loved golf and enjoyed organizing a large golf tournament for the Pekin Fire Department for several years. As a pastime he loved to do wood carvings. He enjoyed carving birds and different types of Santas. He had a booth and sold his carvings at many art show events. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Sean Peters officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM 11:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be at 10:30 AM Friday, May 10th at Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1315 Court St. Pekin, IL 61554.
