Kendall M. Garner Jr.

Kendall Maurice Garner Jr. of Groveland, IL passed away at 5:12 pm, Monday August 2, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. He was born in Peoria to Kendall M. and Mae Elizabeth (Fielden) Garner Sr. on January 26, 1943. He married the love of his life; Thelma Harper on December 29, 1985 in Mountain City, TN. She survives. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother David. He is also survived by; two sons, Jason Wayne (Laura) Garner of Indianapolis, IN and Logan (Mykayla) Garner of Peoria; three grandchildren, Isaac Michael Garner, Silas Kendall Garner, Farrah Briel Garner; and four sisters, Linda Hess of Chicago, Sherry (James) Van Buren of Bartonville, Susan Spaeth of East Moline, and Lisa (Michael) Jones of Chicago. Thelma would especially like to thank cousins Vickie and Bill Blessman for their help during Kennys illness. Every time there was a need, both would show up at the door sent directly from God and his angels. Endless support, comfort, love and cherry pies (Kendalls favorite) were unforgettable blessings. There are not words to express the gratitude. Kenny was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Steamfitters Local #353 in Peoria. A NAUI certified commercial deep oceanic diver specializing in salvage, explosive demolition and welding on offshore oil rigs. A large portion of is career was spent an advisor specializing in clean air adaptations and upgrades for fossil and nuclear power plants. He retired as specialist for Pollution Control Services Inc. & a project advisor for Process Baron Inc. He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and was a Master Mason and Life member of Lodge 0352 of Morton, and of Chandlerville Lodge 0724 and a Venerable Prophet of the Abbas Grotto in East Peoria. He was baptized in the Presbyterian Church in Virginia, IL and presently attended Bethel Lutheran Church in Morton. He was a 1961 Graduate of Chandlerville High School and then attended the University of Illinois. Kenny was a Technical Rep for Midwest Power. He enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles, playing chess with the grandchildren and was an avid reader. Kenny was known by everyone who loved him as a cowboy. His knowledge of history, love of all things western and the rugged demonstration of living the "Cowboy" code will always be in the hearts of his loved ones. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr., Pekin with Pastor Greg Moyer officiating. The family will receive friends at a visitation immediately prior to the funeral from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Masonic Service will be held at 9:30 AM also on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chandlerville City Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Marines. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society P.O.
