Keith W. Kells Sr.

Keith W. Kells Sr., 86, of Pekin, passed away at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria surrounded by his family. Keith was born on October 24, 1937 in Quincy, IL to William H. and Lotus D. (Beckmeyer) Kells. He married Dorothy B. Kellum on April 11, 1959 in Macomb, IL. She passed away on April 28, 2004. Also preceding in death are his parents, one sister and special friend, Helen Hickersberger. He is survived by: one son, Bill (Sue) Kells of Pekin; one daughter, Kim (Loren) Meyers of Pekin; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Barry) Sullivan of Washington, Jacob (Derek) Meyers of East Peoria, Mallory (Jody) Parker of Pekin, Kacey (Brennan)Stroemer of East Peoria, Kody Kells of Pekin and Kory Kells of Pekin; nine great-grandchildren, Joslyn Sullivan, Adalyn Sullivan, Lexi (Dylan) Wolf, Peyton Parker, Ian Parker, Nathan Parker, Quinn Parker, Sawyer Stroemer and Memphis Stroemer. Keith was veteran of the United States Navy. He was an engineer for Caterpillar for 25 years and Illinois Machine & Tool for 8 1/2 years. He owned and operated Our Inn Place for 13 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed walking, ball room dancing and volunteering at the hospital and the Miller Center where he was an ambassador and started the Miller Center Walking Club. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM 7:00 PM Monday, December 11th at the funeral home. Interment will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Navy. Memorials may be made to Miller Senior Citizens Center.
