Kathryn Goodwin

Kathryn Waldeck Goodwin, 79, formerly of Pekin, passed peacefully on Wednesday October 9, in Park Ridge, Illinois.Known to all as 'Kitty,' she was greatly loved by those who knew her.Born on September 30, 1934 to Helen (Habecker) and Theodore Waldeck, Kitty resided in Eureka, Illinois and later, in Washington, Illinois.She graduated from Washington High School, and attended Illinois Wesleyan University.On December 1, 1956, she married Larry T. Goodwin.She leaves behind her loving husband and three adoring daughters, Anne (Goodwin)Neuhaus, Elizabeth (Goodwin) Gogola and Melissa (Goodwin) Pannkoke.She also will be missed by her three sons in law, Peter Neuhaus, Michael Gogola and Ted Pannkoke.Kitty's greatest legacy, however, is her four grandchildren:Elise and Christopher Neuhaus, and Matthew and Kathryn (Katie) Gogola. During her lifetime, Kitty was a member of the Pekin Chapter of PEO, and an active volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.Kitty loved to travel, was an avid reader, thoroughly enjoyed a good laugh and delighted in time spent with her family.She will be deeply missed by those whom she touched -- and her spirit will carry on through the smiles of her children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, from 10 AM until time of funeral mass at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 303 S. 7th Street, Pekin. Interment at Glendale Cemetery in Washington.In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the St. Matthew's Rainbow Hospice Ark, 1601 N. Western Ave., Park Ridge, IL, 60068. In addition, an open house celebrating Kitty's life will begin at 3 PM, on Tuesday, October 15, at the home of Anne and Peter Neuhaus, 55 Brandon Road, Northfield, Illinois.Family and friends are welcome. Henderson Funeral Home and Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with local arrangements.
