Kathleen M. Byland

Kathleen M. Byland, 81, of Pekin, IL passed away at 1:14 PM Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at her home. Kathy was born on October 30, 1943 in Manitowoc, WI to Francis Xavier and Verona (Kaufman) OConnor. She married Randall Byland in 1967 in Cherry Point, NC. He passed away on May 25, 2023. Also preceding in death are her parents and one brother, Bill OConnor. Surviving are: one son, Mark Byland of Pekin; one brother, John (Sally) OConnor of Hutchinson, KS and one sister, Carol Lanich of Tomah, WI. Kathy first worked as a dispatcher for the Manitowoc Police Department. She was a Vietnam War Veteran in the United States Marine Corps where she attained the rank of Staff Sargent. She then went to work at Sherex in Mapleton, IL where she retired as purchasing agent. Kathy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She had served as a union steward for the OCAW. She was a stain glass artist and enjoyed horses, yard work and traveling. There will be no services. Cremation will be accorded. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Kathys arrangements.
