Katheryn J. Jones

Katheryn J. Jones, 89, of Peoria, IL and formerly of Pekin passed away at 7:10 am Saturday, June 6, 2009 at OSF St. Clare Home in Peoria. Katheryn was born March 26, 1920 in Carthage, IL to Louis S. and Hazel (Porter) Smith. She married Russell A. Jones on May 7, 1939 in Ft. Madison, IA. He died on May 29, 1990 in Peoria. Also preceding in death are two brothers and two sisters. Surviving are: one son, Ted (Pamela) Jones of Peoria, IL; one daughter, Suzanne (Jerry) Moore of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA; eight grandchildren, Robyn Moore, Kelley (Eric) Hundley, Patrick Moore, Jamie (David)Vrabel, Chad (Jennifer) Jones, Jeff (Jennifer) Jones, Turi (Brian) Clough and Griffin Goetz; ten great grandchildren. Katheryn was the secretary at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Peoria from 1960 - 1977. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pekin and was Past President of the Pilot Club in Pekin. Kathryn loved to play bridge and golf. She volunteered at the hospital and the Chamber of Commerce in Brownsville, TX when she and her husband wintered there. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. David A. Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Tuesday at Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin and from 9:30 am - 10:00 am at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
