Joyce E. Singleton

Joyce E. Singleton, 86, of Pekin, IL passed away at 8:36 AM Saturday, July 23, 2022 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL. Joyce was born on February 9, 1936 in Peoria, IL to Melvin and Mary A. (Spain) Snoke. She married Kenneth Schmidt in 1954. He passed away in 1973. She married John Singleton in 1978. He passed away in 1990. Also preceding in death are her parents, two daughter-in-laws, Betty Schmidt and Elaine Schmidt, step-daughter, Sheila Singleton and brother, Howard Snoke. Surviving are: three sons, Michael Schmidt of Flowery Branch, GA, David E. Schmidt of Pekin, IL and Daniel L. Schmidt of Pekin, IL; one daughter, Rebecca (Jeff Patridge) Smith of Pekin, IL; four step-sons, Robert (Cecilia) Singleton of Las Vegas, NV, Denver Singleton of Las Vegas, NV, William (Jill) Singleton of Layton, UT and John (Brandi) Singleton Jr of Yelm, WA.; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one sister, Betty (Everett) Copeland of San Jose, IL. Joyce was a member of the First Church of the Brethren in Peoria. She enjoyed reading her bible, crocheting, doing jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, July 29, 2022 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Dana McNeil officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM 11:00 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery near South Pekin.
