Josephine "Jo" Monge

Josephine "Jo" Monge, 103, of Pekin, IL passed away at 2:09 PM Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Reflections Memory Care in Pekin. Jo was born May 17, 1917 in Sparland, IL to Florian and Anna (Strogan) Rak. She married Emile Monge Sr. on October 20, 1934. He passed away May 12, 1991. Also preceding in death are one son, Emil Monge Jr., one son-in-law, Michael Halstead, one grandson, Dan Monge, one great granddaughter, Rachel Skocaj, two sisters, Nonie Zoril and Betsy Roberts, one brother, William Rak. Surviving are: one daughter, Darlene Halstead; one daughter-in-law, Sarah Monge; seven grandchildren David (Linda) Monge of Mokena, IL, Chris (Becci) Monge of Atherstone, England, Matt (Ana Hernandez) Monge of New Albany, MS, Lisa (Robert) Carney of Naples, FL, Lori (Richard) Skocaj of Pekin, Steve Halstead of Pekin and Jodi (Mark) Scott of Peoria; eighteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; two sisters, Jaynee (Tony) Shaw and Sonja (Sam) Weaver both of Las Vegas, NV. Jo enjoyed decorating and crafts. She did interior design for Monge Homes. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She loved to travel and was a diehard Cub fan. She was a member of the Pekin Hospital League, Pekin Womens Club, Pekin Emblem Club, Ladies of the Moose and a former member of Sunset Hills County Club and Pekin Country Club. Private graveside services will be held at Glendale Memorial Gardens with Father Michael Andrejek officiating. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with Jos arrangements.
