Joseph Ray Rearden

Joseph Ray Rearden, 77 of Pekin passed away at 8:50 am, Monday May 16, 2022 at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria. Ray was born to Truman and Cecilia "Roby" Rearden on January 11, 1945 in Roseville, KY. He married the love of his life, Sharon Hoyle on July 31, 1965 in Pekin. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Scott Rearden. Ray is also survived by; one daughter, Tracy (Tim) Burgener of Pekin; one son, Todd (Gina) Rearden of Lemont, IL; five grandchildren; Jordan (Brian) Willmert of Morton, Haley (Shaun) Moss of Marquette Heights, Il, Alaina Rearden, Lauren Rearden, Paige Rearden; two step-grandchildren, Tim Burgener, and Grace Burgener; four great grandchildren, Adalyn, Emersyn and Bennett Willmert, and Harper Moss; nine siblings, Jeanie (Jerry) Hasse of Chillicothe, IL, Darrell (Kathy) Rearden of Morton, Carolyn (Earl) Riley of East Peoria, Richard Rearden of Peoria, Steve (Mary) Rearden of Pekin, IL, Gary Rearden of Pekin, Cheryl (Dan) Fredette of Chicopee, MA, Mark Rearden of Shrewsbury, MA, Jeff (Gail) Rearden of Pekin. He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church in Pekin. He served in the Illinois National Guard from 1963-1969. Ray worked as an office supervisor for Caterpillar in Peoria retiring in 2002 after 38 years. He was an avid golfer. He enjoyed fishing trips with his friends. Ray and Sharon were snowbirds, wintering in Florida for many years. Rays greatest treasures and joy were his family and time spent with them. He was a gentle man of generosity, wit and humor. He was loved immensely and will be eternally missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am, Monday, May 23, 2022 at St Joseph Church, 303 S. 7th St., Pekin, IL with Father Michael Andrejek as celebrant. A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Pekin, IL.
