Joseph G. Matheny

Joseph G. Matheny, 63 of Davenport, IA passed away at 12:22 am, Wednesday, August 16, 2023 surrounded by family at his home. He was born in Dickson, TN to Sterlon and Anita (Miles) Matheny on October 25, 1959. He married Lynn Barrick in Pekin, IL on September 11, 1982. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Mike Matheny. He is survived by; his wife Lynn, one son, Kiefer (Jenna Berg) Matheny of Geneseo, IL; two daughters, Tarah (Vinnie) Campagna of Milwaukee, WI. and Shanna (Matt) Oyer of Tremont, IL; five grandchildren, Emma Oyer, Jack Oyer, Ruby Oyer, Joey Campagna, and Jordan Campagna; two brothers, Tom Matheny of Big Sandy, TN and Stan (Debbie) Matheny of Peoria; and one sister, Gloria Flynn of Galesburg, IL Joe worked at Sherex for 30 years retiring in 2011. After retirement he worked at Quad City Safety as purchasing manager in Davenport, IA for 12 years retiring in January, 2023. He was a former member of St Pauls United Church of Christ in Pekin. Joe was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. He enjoyed biking, fishing, and playing drums. He and Lynn enjoyed local live music in the Quad City Area. Joe previously coached varsity softball in Tremont, and coached the Pekin Lettes for 5 years. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday August 20, 2023 at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory, 2131 Velde Dr, Pekin, IL. with Pastor Heather Robertson officiating. A visitation will be held immediately prior from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm also at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
