Joseph V. Bakotic

Joseph "Joe" V. Bakotic, 65, of Mason City, IL passed away at 1:40 PM Friday, April 16, 2021 at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria. He was born on November 17, 1955 in Loyalton, California to William Vukon and Mary Margaret (Ward) Bakotic. He married Rachel Lasley on June 30, 2001 in Pekin. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Margaret Ames. Surviving are : his wife, Rachel of Mason City; twins, Gracin Gene and Mary Suzanne, at home; two sisters, Louise Culver of Reno, NV, Helen Winegar of Chester, CA.; five nephews; Donald (Felisha) Creasy, Robert (Kristy) Winegar, Michael (Lori) Winegar, Casey Gremler, David (Frankie) Johnson; two nieces, Sherry Culver and Sonya Gremler; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Joe was a simple man who loved the outdoors, especially fishing, hiking and camping. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Oakland Raiders. He was a skilled amateur pyrotechnician, he loved fireworks. Most of all, Joe was a family man who loved spending time with his wife, children and extending family. His favorite place to be was surrounded by his loving family and friends. Cremation has been accorded. Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting Joes family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Autistic Society.
