Johnsie D. Haynes Sr., 85, of Pekin passed away at 9:08 PM Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Pekin Hospital. Johnsie was born on July 2, 1926 in Mapleton, IL to Robert and Grace (Terrell) Haynes. He married Virginia May Parr on January 30, 1946 in Pekin. She died on December 5, 2005. Also preceding in death are his parents, one son, Mickey Oral Haynes, one daughter, Billie Haynes, one great granddaughter, Virginia Jean Tucker, three sisters and two brothers. Surviving is: one son, Johnsie D. (Mary) Haynes, Jr. of Pekin; one daughter, Roberta J. Taylor of Pekin; ten grandchildren, Tina Harrison, Johnica Haynes, Jessica Haynes, Jerime Barbour, Rita Towne, Melissa Gran, Mickey Haynes Jr., Michele Haynes, Tim Haynes and Johnsie Haynes III; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Johnsie was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a cement finisher having worked for Monge Construction Company and Davin Excavating.He was a member of Laborer's Local #231 and Operative Plasters' and Cement Masons' International Association Local #018. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.Visitation will be from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM Wednesday at Henderson Funeral Home in Pekin. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pekin Salvation Army 243 Derby St. Pekin, IL 61554.
