John Schacherbauer

John Schacherbauer Jr., 83, of Manito, IL passed away at 5:30 PM Friday, March 18, 2016 at Morton Villa. John was born on May 18, 1932 in Spring Lake Township, Tazewell County, Illinois to John E. and Caroline (Long) Schacherbauer. He married Nina Gambetti on August 14, 1957. She passed away on May 29, 2011. Also preceding in death are his parents, one son, Rick, infant twin sisters and son-in-law, Rick Gale. Surviving are: one son, Ryan Schacherbauer of Manito; two daughters, Julie Gale of Green Valley, IL and Jeanne (Denny) Hintz of Manito; one sister, Marie (Sid) Parker of Pekin; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. John was a veteran of the United States Army and farmed in Spring Lake bottoms his whole life. He enjoyed gardening and watching hummingbirds. He was a well-respected fisherman in the Spring Lake area. He enjoyed his dogs, BJ and Missy. John enjoyed spending time with his family and was always the life of the party. John was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Manito. He was active in the Compassionate Friends and Relay for Life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father David Whiteside officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Henderson Funeral Home & Crematory 2131 Velde Dr. Pekin. Burial will be in Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito. Memorial contributions may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or TAPS.
